Jannelle: Would the quality of today's music be better
if other artists had complete control?
Eric: It is relative to the artist. If it worked
for me, I'm sure it can work for some others.
Jannelle: What made movie production exciting to
you ?
Eric: It is another way to be creative and another
way to exercise creativity.
Jannelle: Where did you get your humor from?
Eric: I was dropped on my head as a child.

Pauletta:
Love
& Life dropped on September 9th and soon after you kicked
off this tour in Jacksonville. How has this tour been
different than the last one you did for Hurricane? How
have people been responding to your new songs?
Eric: The response has been incredible. The tour
is different because this is really the first tour where
Demonte and I have gotten together. Demonte and I have
been making the music, but this is the first time that
we’ve gone on tour together with a couple of other people
from Milwaukee.
Pauletta: On Love & Life, one of the songs that
touched my heart is One More Tomorrow, written by you
and George Nash. Can you tell me how that song came about?
Eric: I wrote that song when India was born. I
was a new father. In the experience of having this little
person that I didn’t know that I could love that much.
I tried to capture that feeling in a song.
Pauletta: You captured me in that song too.
Pauletta: I’m a jazz head and I love Eric Benet.
There were several collaborations you’ve done in the past
with jazz artists. I was wondering will you be doing anymore
in the future?
Eric: Maybe? For right now, I think Demonte and
I are going to focus on producing other R&B artists and
making the next album and the next Eric Benet record.
So between that and making songs for other artists, that’s
going to keep us pretty busy.
