Before The Show

As yall know, prior to this show, I have never seen Eric perform live. You also know that I have came close two years ago on two different occasions. Well, finally it was my turn to see and meet Eric, and I was hella excited! To learn that I was one of the recent contest winner was an added bonus. When I learned about the contest, I was trying to find something to wear. According to the contest, I had to ask Eric three questions. Let me tell you, coming up with three questions was easier than finding something to wear.

I arrived at the Carolina at 7pm. Before this event, I thought that Greensboro only had the Carolina Theatre. The venue was spacious and beautiful, what a great selection by Eric's management team. Anyway, remember when I told you that I had a hard time deciding what to wear? Well, I wanted to be stylish yet comfortable. So, I decided to wear jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. When I arrived, it seems as if I was the only one dressed down. After looking at everyone dressed up, I felt really nervous and self conscious, and I felt like kicking myself for not bringing an alternate outfit.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lucy before it was time for Eric to hit the stage. I told her what was going on with the outfits and all, and she reassured me that there were more people in jeans than I thought. She actually sat beside me during the show.

The Show

Eric sounded and looked incredible. He put on a tremedous show and brought the house down. Last night, he was wearing a jacket, his shades, the white t-shirt, jeans w/ the wallet chain and a pair of addias shelltoes. That's right, a pair of superstars for the superstar.

Of course, Eric gave his introductions to the songs and that really resonated with the crowd. Before introducing Spanish Fly, Eric took his jacket off and shades and said that he 'don't condone illegal drugs when there is so many afrodiasics out there legally, like him. He said "I can get you in the mood" Thats an understatement right? LOL

Before Choc legs, he talked about the economy and the fact that we have had an asshole running the country for the past 8 years, and how it was nice to come home and have someone wrap their sensuality around him. Choc. Legs was undeniably a crowd favorite.

Spend My Life was another one, and Kim was simply amazing. She and Eric had perfect chemistry and pitch on that song. Kim received a standing ovation.

Eric did not forget the words to dont let go this time He nailed it perfectly. That happens to be one of my favorite songs on the CD.

Eric closed the show with Georgy Porgy. Everyone and I do mean everyone was on thier feet dancing cheering and the whole 9. After that, we did a syncronized dance and again, he cracked on McCain when he said unlike some, we can do two things at once. Thats when he introuced his fantabolus band!

Mike did his thing on the guitar. His solo on Pretty Baby was off the smacka lacka, as Eric would say. Mike, DeMonte, Greg, Otis and Kim were all on their game in Durham!

I thorougly enjoyed the show. Eric was well worth the wait and I will definitely come back for more.

After The Show

Remember when I said that I would be a 5'7 bundle of nerves when I would meet Eric? Well, thats exactly what I was. Almost instantly, I went from a cool, laid back 27 yr old to a awkward, shy and nervous 17 yr old. There was a line of people for autographs. Unfortunatly, They said that Eric was only signing those lithographs. He was not signing anything else.

At first, I didnt know where the line was but Eric was right in my face. I introduced myself by saying "True EB In the House. I'm Jannelle" He told everyone close that we have a true eb here. He shook my hand I showed off my Obama shirt. He liked it. I told him about the questions and he said he will answer them quick. All the time, I was there nevous as hell.

After the signing, he met with me to answer my questions. I asked some pretty good questions but I was still nervous b/c I wanted to be quick as I can because he was apparently on his way to Charlotte. Otis took our picture and before I could take my camera off my neck, he pulled on the camera case Talk about awkward. We took a picture and come to find out , I had my damn eyes closed. I must have blinked. I didnt get a chance at another one becuase he had to go.

Eric was gracious and cool. I'm glad that he met w/ me after the show. I just hate that I was awkward. The next time, I hope I can get a little more time and it will be smooth.
